CATHERINE H. WINSTON
Board of Directors
Catherine Winston grew up in a proud Mexican family where she learned the importance of hard work, resilience, family, and community from an early age. As the first person in her family to attend college, she embraced opportunities that would shape both her personal and professional journey.
While attending Rio Hondo College, Catherine was a dedicated student-athlete, competing in swimming, volleyball, and women’s water polo. Her commitment to teamwork and excellence helped lead her water polo team to back-to-back California State Championships. That success earned her a scholarship to San Jose State University, where she continued playing water polo while earning her Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice.
For Catherine, college wasn’t always part of the plan. Financial challenges and family circumstances made higher education seem out of reach. Receiving a scholarship changed everything. Determined to make the most of the opportunity, she balanced the demands of being a student-athlete while working three part-time jobs to support herself. During some of the toughest moments, she even slept in her truck in a campus parking garage while pursuing her degree. Those experiences shaped the grit, determination, and perspective that continue to guide her today.
After graduation, Catherine built a career in hospitality that now spans more than two decades. Starting as a bellwoman and valet driver in San Jose, she worked her way through the industry by consistently delivering exceptional service, building strong relationships, and leading with integrity. Along the way, she helped open three hotels and held a variety of management and sales leadership roles. Today, she serves as a Sales Manager at Delta Hotels by Marriott Ontario Airport, where she continues to connect people, create opportunities, and drive results.
Giving back has always been a core part of Catherine’s life. She proudly coached all three of her children in basketball, helping young athletes build confidence, leadership skills, and a love for teamwork. She also served as Chairwoman of the High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, supporting local businesses, strengthening community connections, and creating opportunities for growth throughout the region.
When she’s not working, Catherine can usually be found cheering on her children at basketball, soccer, and flag football games. She is a strong advocate for girls in sports and believes athletics teach valuable life skills such as confidence, discipline, resilience, and leadership. Being present for her family and supporting their goals remains one of her greatest passions.
Through her career, education, community leadership, and dedication to family, Catherine strives to lead with authenticity, serve with purpose, and empower others to pursue opportunities that can change their lives.
