Principal Manager for Supplier Diversity and Development department at Southern California Edison (SCE)


She is responsible for managing SCE’s supplier diversity program by constantly developing effective strategies and initiatives that facilitate the ongoing inclusion and growth of small and diverse business enterprises. Maia and her team ensure that SCE meets and exceeds the diverse business spend goals and is in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and public laws related to small and diverse businesses.

Prior to this role, Maia was Deputy Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Administration’s Division of Supplier Diversity (IDOA DSD). In this role, Maia, together with her team, supported and advocated for the Minority Business Enterprises, Women Business Enterprises, and Indiana Veteran Owned Small Businesses. DSD certified MBEs, WBEs IVOSBs and provides equal opportunities to the MBE/WBE and IVOSB business communities by introducing them to the state procurement and contracting process and opportunities.


Before working for the State of Indiana, Maia worked at the City of Indianapolis, Department of Minority & Women Business Development as a Senior Project Manager where her main responsibility was to advocate for Minority-, Women-, Veteran- and Disability-owned Businesses and provide them with equal opportunities for the City, County, and Municipal contracts. This is where she found her passion for working with the supplier diversity community.


Minority and gender issues were not new for Maia, who immigrated to the United States four years ago from the country of Georgia, one of the former Soviet countries. She was a diplomat and held various high-level positions, responsible for initiating and implementing important reforms in Georgia’s Defense and Education sectors. In the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, she led three major civilian departments and coordinated plans between Joint Staff and civilian personnel for Georgia’s effort to become a member of North Atlantic Treaty Organization.



In the Ministry of Education and Science, she ran the Department of International Relations and Programs, overseeing all major education projects underway in the country. She is also the author of the piloted Peace Corps type program, “Teach and Learn with Georgia,” which brought over 1,500 native and fluent English- speaking volunteers to teach English in Georgian schools.
